Setup /pl fails but the ExchangeSetup.log file is empty Exchange 2007 SP1 We are following the instructions in http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb693318(EXCHG.80).aspx Scenario 1: Single Forest, Exchange 2007 Coexisting with Previous Versions of Exchange We think we have met all the criteria but when we run setup /pl all we see is this E:\>setup.com /pl Welcome to Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Unattended Setup Preparing Exchange Setup Exchange Server setup encountered an error. E:\> The ExchangeSetupLogs\ExchangeSetup.log file is created but it is empty. The application log contains the following error The description for Event ID ( 4999 ) in Source ( MSExchange Common ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: 2192, E12, c-RTL-AMD64, 08.01.0240.006, ExSetup, M.E.D.Common, M.E.D.C.ExchangeResourceManager.GetString, System.OutOfMemoryException, d587, 08.01.0240.003, False. Basic topology of our setup is a single domain with 5 server 2003 sp1 baseddomain controllers and one exchange 2003 instance running. We can supply more information if required. Anyone got any pointers to help us work out what is happening here?

Hi Steal, It looks like some strange issue... Can you run http://ExBPA.com on the server and look for any error and try to resolve it? Whats the memory configuration you have on server where you are running this command? You can prepare AD & Domain on any of the 32bit or 64bit Windows 2003 SP1 server in the environment but it should be in same AD site where Schema Master Server is located so you can prepare AD & Domain on some other server and start installing Exchange 2007 later on this server. Please uninstall .net framework 2.0 (reboot the server) and then re-install .net framework 2.0 with sp1.
